Ivor Cutler (15 January 1923 – 3 March 2006) was a Scottish poet, songwriter and humorist. He became known for his regular performances on BBC radio, and in particular his numerous sessions recorded for John Peel's influential radio programme, and later for Andy Kershaw's programme. He appeared in The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film in 1967 and on Neil Innes' television programmes. Cutler also wrote books for children and adults and was a teacher at A. S. Neill's Summerhill School and for 30 years in inner-city schools in London. He told Andy Kershaw on his radio show that he also gave private poetry lessons to individuals.

In live performances Cutler would often accompany himself on a harmonium. Phyllis King appears on several of his records, and for a number of years was a part of his concerts. She usually read small phrases but also read a few short stories. The two starred in a BBC radio series, King Cutler, in which they performed their material jointly and singly. Cutler also collaborated with pianist Neil Ardley and singer Robert Wyatt.

Marcell Jankovics (born 21 October 1941) is a Hungarian graphic artist, cartoon director, animator and author. He received his Oscar nomination for the 1974 animated short movie "Sisyphus" That movie was used for a GMC Yukon Hybrid ad during the 2008 Super Bowl based on an agreement between the Hungarian film studio Pannónia and GM. He also received a Palme d'Or for the short movie "The Struggle" at the Cannes Film Festival in 1977. He has been presented multiple awards at the Kecskemét Animation Film Festival since 1985.

John Davies Cale, OBE (born 9 March 1942) is a Welsh musician, composer, singer-songwriter and record producer who was a founding member of the experimental rock band The Velvet Underground.

Though best known for his work in rock music, Cale has worked in various genres including drone and classical. Since departing from the Velvet Underground in 1968 he has released approximately 30 albums. Of his solo work, Cale is perhaps best known for his album Paris 1919, and his cover version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", plus his mid-1970s Island Records trilogy of albums: Fear, Slow Dazzle, and Helen of Troy.

Cale has produced or collaborated with Lou Reed, Nico, La Monte Young, John Cage, Terry Riley, Cranes, Nick Drake, Mike Heron, Kevin Ayers, Brian Eno, Patti Smith, The Stooges, The Modern Lovers, Art Bergmann, Manic Street Preachers and frontman James Dean Bradfield, Marc Almond, Squeeze, Happy Mondays, LCD Soundsystem and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

John Cale was born 9 March 1942 in Garnant in the heavily industrial Amman Valley of Wales to Will Cale and Margaret Davies. His mother was a primary teacher and his father was a coal miner. Although Will only spoke English, Margaret brought John up to speak only Welsh. Being unable to speak the same language as his father naturally hindered their relationship. John finally began learning English around age seven at primary. Cale was molested by two different men during his childhood; one of the men was a priest, and the incident occurred in a church.

Quincy O. "Q" Smith (born February 3, 1918, Louisiana) was an American outfielder who played in Negro league baseball and the Minor leagues. Listed at 5' 10, 171 lb., he was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. His older brother, Gene Smith, also played in the Negro and Minor leagues.

Smith entered the Negro Leagues in 1943, playing in part of two seasons for the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Crawfords before joining the Birmingham Black Barons in 1945. He hit a .284 batting average for Birmingham during the first half of the season, but jumped to the Mexico City Reds of the Mexican League for the rest of the year. Once Major League Baseball started signing Negro League talent, he received a shot at organized baseball from 1949 through 1953, but never made it to the majors.

Smith spent six years in the minor leagues, all in the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League while playing with four different teams. He compiled four seasons with a batting average over .300, with a career-high of .317 in 1952 as a member of the Paris Lakers. He also was selected for the All-Star Team that faced the Decatur Commodores in the 1953 MSOH All-Star Game. Overall, he was a .305 hitter (788-for-2584), including 165 doubles, 55 triples, 45 home runs, and a .454 slugging percentage in 653 games played.
